Het is de bedoeling dat de&#160; Rijksgebouwendienst het pand, na een ingrijpende verbouwing, zal&#160; betrekken, doch de Vereniging voor Vreemdelingenverkeer (VVV) heeft ook wel interesse. Eind 1938 wordt het onteigeningsplan door zowel de Tweede- als de Eerste Kamer goedgekeurd. Johan Schlüter en echtgenote bleven echter het hotel uitbaten tot het bombardement van mei 1940. Eind 1938 wordt het onteigeningsplan door zowel de Tweede- als de Eerste Kamer goedgekeurd. Johan Schlüter en echtgenote bleven echter het hotel uitbaten tot het bombardement van mei 1940.
