Omstreeks 1700 kwam het in het bezit van Omar van Visvliet en in 1745 werd het door diens kleinzoon ingrijpend verbouwd. Maar ook daarna vonden nog regelmatig aanpassingen plaats.&#160; In het begin van de 19e eeuw werd het pand vernoemd naar luitenant-generaal Baron le Chassé, de verdediger van het fort Antwerpen . Families en gebruikers volgden elkaar op. Het is in de 2e helft van de vorige eeuw ook nog tijdje een hotel geweest. Tot het in 1985 aan de sociëteit werd verhuurd.&#160; Het pand is aan de straatzijde 10 en aan de achterkant 22 meter breed en 30 meter diep. Vooral de voorgevel, de kapconstructies, de begane grond, het terras en de tuin zijn van cultuurhistorische betekenis.&#160; De monumentale voorgevel en de tuinzaal dateren van de verbouwing in 1745. Het overig interieur dateert uit verschillende tijdperken. Vooral de ornamentele aankleding van de hal en de gang en in de vertrekken het houten snijwerk, de plafonds en de schouwen vallen op.&#160; De zogenaamde wintertuin en de gietijzeren waranda aan de tuinzijde dateren van 1870. In de tuin staat o.a. een eeuwenoude moerbeiboom.&#160; De sociëteit heeft enkel de begane grond en de tuin in gebruik.
