==Geschiedenis==<br />
M.J. Scheijbeler meldt in 1870 middels een advertentie in de Middelburgsche Courant dat hij van de Spanjaardstraat is verhuisd naar Sint Janstraat H 203 - bij de burgerlaike stand staat hij geregistreert als ''opentafelhouder''. Een ''opentafel'' was een openbare gelegenheid waar men kon eten, drinken en slapen; een synoniem voor pension. In 1878 vertrekt naar de Nieuwstraat G 226 waar hij [[ Opentafel Nieuwstraat ]] begint. In 1894 worden er nette kostgangers gevraagd op het adres, doch het is niet bekend of er toen nog sprake was van een ''opentafel'' of logement. <br />
